Although some patrons of the arts might be more inclined to head over to a symphonic concert at one of the larger venues in Salt Lake City’s arts district downtown, you might find that—after a long day at work endured with hardly enough crunchy jams to mellow the mind and peace out to—you’re just looking to put a finely handcrafted cocktail into your hand, a locally sourced beer into the other, a plate of world-class tacos in front of you, a comfy-rear cradling seat below you, and a wickedly loose and delightfully acoustic band to listen to: music that allows you to vibe while you imbibe.
Listen no further than at the dulcet tones of a decades-long local favorite, Marmalade Chill—emphasis on Chill. If you’re a fan of live local bands, you may have heard the band’s other iteration, Marmalade Hill, using electric instruments to electrify the larger stages throughout Salt Lake with their mix of decade-spanning hits from the rock and R&B scene with plenty of electric, but the acoustic version of the raucous party band has just as many earworms to deliver you, in a much more mellowed out manner.
If you’ve ever made it to one of their live shows at Gracie’s, then you’ve also heard some of their heart-pumping, foot-stomping mash-ups of popular rock and pop songs spanning the decades from the 1960s to today’s hottest hits.
